Great evening last night hosting a tasting in the @officialbhafc changing room. Showcasing a great selection of Loire Valley wines alongside some nibbles, inspired by @georginio.rutter who grew up about an hour away from the Loire.

🌽Supplier Spotlight: Culver Farm, East Sussex 🌽

PART 3

Back in October, we had the pleasure of visiting Culver Farm, our trusted supplier of the best sweetcorn. Their incredible produce inspired the first course of our autumn menu: a beautiful silky smooth sweetcorn soup, aerated and served with crème fraîche and grelot oil.

We paired this up with a Sussex wine, Ben Walgate’s Pinot Meunier 2022. This is a seductively silky, fresh and fragrant style of red that we’d recommend serving chilled. It’s raspberry and lime zest acidity cuts through the creamy soup, whilst Meunier’s combination of sweet fruit, and herbal peppery spice character acts as a great complement to the sweetness of the corn, and the aromatic spice of grelot onion.

We love showcasing the stories behind the ingredients and wines that make it onto your plate, and into your glass.

Wine Director

I currently oversee the beverage programme at Steven Edwards' flagship restaurant in Hove, overseeing an ever changing list of around 300 wines, as well as a progressive range of spirits, beers and cocktails. I curate the wine pairings alongside the tasting menus, providing training to the whole Front of House team. The wine list focuses on small family run producer with an emphasis on sustainability, and is a blend of classic regions and producers, alongside an eclectic mix of esoteric, up and coming regions, grapes and winemakers. The Wine List was awarded "Best Medium Sized List (200-600 references)" by Star Wine List in 2024, and "Best UK Contemporary Wine List" by the International Wine Challenge in 2023.
